The Imaginary City

Titolo

LA CITTA' IMMAGINARIA

Date

2008

The smooth volumes that stand out on the “Imaginary City” by Monia Biscioni, an Italian art designer with an innate talent, vibrate with monumental flashes. In it, an astral landscape reverberates with dreamlike intuitions that manifest themselves in the achromatic white. The sculptural structure obtained through geometric rigor and the visual impact of notable monumentality denote an almost architectural structural language, which exalts the forms, be they hemispheres, parallelepipeds or squares, and extols a new refined artistic expression. The aesthetic investigation is conducted in three-dimensional mode to achieve harmony and symmetry, in a tension towards perfection that surrounds us in the words of Fichte: “perfection is not being perfect, but continually striving towards it”. Thus Monia proposes an ideal city as a refuge from the degradation of the contemporary landscape. Having lost all contact with the surrounding reality, the author gives us the illusory spaces that the building project has denied us, in search of a deep inner peace, but hers is an urban utopia that is not expressed with ordinary visual lyrics, but with an emotional detachment, accentuated by the monochromy of polycarbonate and plaster, rarely interrupted by the elegant silvery notes of aluminum. Monia's works are works of the intellect with extraordinary creative purity. Sabrina Falzone, Art Critic and Historian
