THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

In this work from 2005 the artist wanted to begin a journey in which to give body and therefore volume to her representations. From this moment on her paintings become sculptures. The sense and meanings of the messages contained in the works materialize as in a metamorphosis that transforms the previous graphic lines of the surface into corporeal substance. Monia Biscioni therefore feels within herself the need to externalize her ideas and emotions in a more material way… and she does so by giving them (through volumes) a substantial physicality. The grandeur of the works (120 x 120) is another demonstration of her need to manifest herself through them, even if this happens with great sensitivity and subtle discretion. In the “City of the Future” the author, with orderly and simple cleanliness, has played with the volumes providing the observer with the perception of the desire and choice to give order and rigor to the work to therefore favor the message. Although the work itself may seem cold and detached from feelings, it is only in the sense of detachment from them, keeping intact that primary need that the artist felt she wanted to represent: "an ideal way of life". The use of materials (plaster and aluminum) on the polycarbonate support and their shapes indicate how through them the male and female aspects of the author are exchanged and manifested, sometimes in harmony and sometimes in antithesis. The bright colors with the prevalence of white, symbol of energy, light and purity, make it clear how the artist wants to offer others, through her works, the possibility of drawing a thought and a judgment "free" from conditioning. In them you can read all the depth and growth of her "inner journey".
